Rape Treatment Center

Provides  medical services for acute (less than five days) sexual assault out of the San Francisco General Hospital Emergency Department. Our clinicians at the TRC also provide ongoing supportive mental health services.

Medical services for clients who have been sexually assaulted are provided at San Francisco General Hospital Emergency Department (SFGH ED) by a nurse practitioner of physician assistant forensic specialist from TRC/RTC.  Learn about our medical forensic team here.

They are available 24/7 to respond within 30 minutes of a client’s arrival at the emergency department.

Survivors of sexual assault can choose to receive any and/or all of the following services at the  San Francisco General Hospital Emergency Department. Staff will explain all of your options and support you through the process.

Survivor options available at the Emergency Department include:

  • physical examination
  • treatment for sexually transmitted infections
  • forensic evidence collection
  • coordination with law enforcement
  • linkage with ongoing support services
