Alicia Boccellari, PhD – Director of Special Programs

Alicia Boccellari, PhD is a Clinical Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and the Chief Psychologist in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG).  Dr. Boccellari is the founder of the UCSF Trauma Recovery Center (TRC), which she launched in 2001. She is also the former Director of TRC.  The TRC is designed to provide comprehensive mental health, case management and psychosocial services to survivors of violent crime.  The TRC also oversees the Survivors International Program (SI), a program designed to treat survivors of political torture.  SI has been designated a National Center for the Treatment of Torture.  The TRC evidence-based model of care is being replicated in other cities in California, as well as elsewhere in the US.  In addition, Dr. Boccellari has conducted longitudinal research and randomized clinical trials on a variety of topics including: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, traumatic brain injury and homelessness.  An overarching goal of this research is to not only contribute to evidence-based clinical practices, but to potentially influence public policy and to improve healthcare services for underserved populations in the public sector.

Stacey Wiggall, LCSW – TRC Technical Assistance Coordinator

Stacey Wiggall, LCSW worked on the UCSF pilot program that used assertive outreach to engage crime services in mental health services and evolved into the first Trauma Recovery Center. She has previously served as the Clinical Coordinator of the UCSF TRC, and as an appointed member of the San Francisco Mayor’s Office Safer Schools Task Force on Campus Sexual Assault. As the TRC Technical Assistance Coordinator, she supports new and developing TRCs in strengthening their human, institutional and community resources.

Kathy Vang, MBA

Kathy Vang is the Operations and Technical Analyst at the Trauma Recovery Center. Ms. Vang holds a Masters in Business Administration. She provides administrative support to the Division Administrator at the Trauma Recovery Center and the Director of Special Programs in the Technical Assistance Program. Her areas of interests are to advocate for the mental health services in underserved communities and to support new and developing Trauma Recovery Centers who choose to serve them.
